Latin Sounds: Moraga South American Jazz

Spend your Saturday evenings with world-renowned artists performing everything from Indigenous music to the latest sounds from Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, Mexico, Peru, and Los Angeles. These free concerts are presented Saturday evenings from Memorial Day weekend in May to Labor Day weekend in September. This week, join LACMA for a concert with Moraga South American Jazz. Moraga South American Jazz (Moraga SAJ) is led by multi-percussionist Christian Moraga and presents a dynamic synthesis of South American folkloric traditions and jazz. Drawing inspiration from jazz, the ensemble explores rhythmic and musical languages from Chile, Perú, Argentina, Uruguay, Colombia, and beyond. The group weaves traditional styles such as festejo, landó, cueca, and candombe into contemporary jazz orchestrations, creating a sound that is both rooted and forward-looking. This week's food truck is Fresh Pizza on Wheels.
