Japan Week & Day

Japan Week & Day is SF Japantown's Summer Festival, presented by GenRyu Arts. Japan Day on July 19, 2026 runs from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm in SF Japantown, with the outdoor stage at Post and Laguna and indoor events at Studio Gen. Join the annual summer festival of Japanese arts and culture with performances of taiko drumming, awa odori dance, Okinawan drumming and dance, karate, and shamisen, plus hands-on washi ningyo paper doll making, origami, and shodo calligraphy. The Japan Day Festival features live performances and workshops by master artists from around the world. The main stage in the Hotel Kabuki parking lot will feature taiko drumming, Japanese dance, Okinawan drumming and dance, and karate. Inside, attendees can join a tea demonstration, fold an origami creation, and listen to music by visiting artists from Brazil.
