At this SFMOMA gathering, we’ll focus on Jacob Hashimoto’s new large-scale installation Giant Arc and explore how the artist works with movement, air, scale, and space. As always at my events, you don’t need to be an art expert. We’ll begin with our own observations and feelings, looking closely and discussing the work through Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) and my own observation guide. We’ll talk about how movement transforms an artwork, what role air and space play, and what happens when the viewer becomes part of the installation. Only at the end of the session will I share some background about Jacob Hashimoto and the context of his practice. The event will be held in English. No museum admission ticket is required to view this installation.
